January 1966 P.T.S. Reunion
On the 18th and 19th of May 2016 ten members of the January1966 P.T.S gathered at Channings Hotel in Edinburgh and celebrated our 50th anniversary.
Our programme consisted of lots of chat [!] and many photographs; the laughter never stopped.
We had a tour of ‘the new Royal’ which was very interesting as there are many artefacts from ‘the old Royal’ on show. The modern wards and departments, such as A+E, are very busy, but oh so different!!!
A wonderful lunch followed at Michael Neave’s in Old Fishmarket Close. In the evening we had an informal supper which was far from quiet!
On Day Two our visit to Britannia was a great hit, especially enjoyed by those of the party who had been away from Edinburgh for a long time.
On our final evening we held a formal dinner, when partners and husbands joined us. There were a couple of short speeches and a toast to those who are no longer with us; sadly we have lost four of our set.
Our time together ended with lots of hugs and promises to keep in touch.
It was a wonderful two days, bringing back memories of the rules and regulations we had to endure, but oh what fun we had breaking them!
How quickly the years have gone, but how nice to remember.
