Continuing Development of the Old Surgical Hospital

Edinburgh University is currently developing this site.  "The Edinburgh University's Futures Institute (EFI) located at the former RIE Surgical Hospital opened its doors in the summer after several years of refurbishment. It hosted a very successful Book Festival in August before its students started arriving for the start of the academic year.
Several of the Pelican League Trustees were invited to join in a moving dedication service marking the transition of the building from a hospital to a place of academia.
The building is open to anyone wishing to visit . The former A & E department is now a cafe and restaurant called "The Canopy" "
